1. Engine fuel

The low temperature in winter tends to increase the viscosity of gasoline and cause poor fluidity, resulting in difficulty in gasoline spraying, poor atomization, and even deterioration of combustion, thereby reducing the power and economic performance of the gasoline engine. Therefore, light gasoline oil with a low freezing point and good ignition performance should be selected in winter. Generally speaking, the freezing point of a gasoline engine should be 7-10°C lower than the local current seasonal temperature.

2. Start with an open flame

In places where the temperature is too low, an open flame can be used to support combustion and start the machine, but the air filter cannot be removed. Light it with cotton yarn dipped in diesel and make a starter. Put it in the intake pipe to start burning. In this way, during the starting process, the external dusty air will be directly sucked into the cylinder without filtering, resulting in abnormal wear of pistons, cylinders and other components, rough operation of the gasoline engine and damage to the machine.

3. Premature drainage or non-discharge of cooling water

Before shutting down, the generator should run at idle speed. When the cooling water temperature drops below 60°C and the water is not hot, turn off the engine and drain the water. If the cooling water is discharged prematurely, the body will be suddenly attacked by cold air at high temperature, causing sudden shrinkage and cracking. When draining, the remaining water in the body should be completely drained to avoid freezing, swelling and cracking of the body. Shun Jinxing here suggests that no matter what season, users should use antifreeze, and the more generator sets, the greater the amount of antifreeze used. Because antifreeze can not only cool down, but also protect the gasoline engine.

4. Selection of lubricating oil

In winter, low freezing point oil should be selected. During start-up, an external water bath heating method can be used to increase the engine oil temperature. It is not recommended to use an open flame, so as to prevent the oil in the oil pan from deteriorating or even scorching, reducing or completely losing the lubricating performance, thereby aggravating the wear of the machine.

5. Starting method

In winter, it is conditional to equip the generator with a water jacket heater, so that the machine can maintain a certain "body temperature" and can be easily operated at any time. In order to quickly start the gasoline generator set, some operators often use the abnormal starting method of starting without water (starting first, and then adding cooling water). This practice will cause serious damage to the machine and should be prohibited. The correct preheating method is: first cover the water tank with the insulation quilt, open the drain valve, continuously pour clean soft water at 60-70°C into the water tank, touch the water flowing out of the drain valve with your hands, and then close the drain valve when it feels hot. Then start.

6. Precautions for low temperature load

After the gasoline generator set started and caught fire, some operators couldn't wait to put it into load operation immediately. For a gasoline engine that catches fire quickly, due to the low temperature of the body and high viscosity of the oil, the oil is not easy to fill the moving friction surface, which will cause serious wear and tear on the machine. In addition, plunger springs, valve springs and fuel injector springs are also prone to fracture due to "cold brittleness". Therefore, after the gasoline generator starts to catch fire in winter, it should be idling at medium and low speed for a few minutes, and then put into load operation when the cooling water temperature reaches 60°C.
